Duran Sales, Inc. is a small family business in the Pajaro Valley going into the third generation. Edmundo Duran started Duran Sales, Inc. to help his father Jose Duran sell their own berries. As a small farmer, Edmundo Duran sought out to make their life better. By creating Duran Sales, Edmundo would be able to sell his own berries and do better for the family.

GreenPoint is a family farm in the Yaqui Valley – located in the south of Sonora, Mexico – where the Gutierrez Parada family has been farming on their land since the 1950s. Over the past two decades, the GreenPoint family of growers have taken us into a new era of premium quality and safety stands that we proudly hold.

Salad Cosmo’s journey with Bean Sprouts started in Japan back in 1945. Fast forward to 1998, Masa Nakada, the son of the founder Toshio Nakada, established Salad Cosmo USA Corp. in Dixon, CA. From humble beginnings in the field in 1989, to a garage operation in 1995 where Suprema Star was started, to 2005 when Jose split off from his parents’ company to start Jayleaf, the Jayleaf family has continued to support each other and maintain the high level of quality that is synonymous with Jayleaf. Today, Jose and Maggie Ornelas oversee all operations at the company, similar to the way Jose’s parents did when they started Suprema Star.

The story of the Tampico Spice Company is the story of the American dream. Jesus Martinez was born in California before the time of the 1929 stock market crash. Although his childhood in Los Angeles was marked by the poverty of the Great Depression, he was a firm believer that hard work and perseverance were the keys to success.

Based in San Francisco, Wo Chung is a family-business that has been around for over 85 years – specializing in making tofu. The family’s great grandfather, Gin Louie started this business in San Francisco’s Chinatown in 1935. Then his grandsons, Walter and John grew and expanded the business from 1950-1996. Now the third generation of the family continues to carry on the family business.

More than a quarter century ago, Prime Time International began the journey of becoming the largest year-round grower, packer and shipper of premium quality colored peppers in the United States. Known primarily as “The Pepper People,” Prime Time has in recent years become a major supplier of sweet mini peppers and asparagus, in addition to a wide variety of seasonal produce items — from vine-ripened tomatoes and sweet corn to watermelons and green beans.

A family-owned business, Kandola’s dream of packing & farming began in 1988 in Livingston, California, on the principle of providing markets and stores with an innovative customer driven company capable of producing quality sweet potatoes. Kandola Farms Produce has succeeded and continues to achieve consistent growth. The growth has been achieved by listening to what our customers want and by anticipating what they will need in the future. By maintaining this strategy Kandola Farms Produce has been able to provide the highest quality sweet potatoes and more recently, organic sweet potatoes, to its customers.

Ozuna Food Products Corp. has been in business since 1960 and the name has become synonymous with Hispanic foods in the Bay Area. The company was founded by Severo Ozuna, and was a family business for many decades with his wife and 9 children. Ozuna Food Products now provides the freshest and highest quality local tortillas, chips, and wraps. Since 1960, Ozuna has been one of the pioneers of the tortilla industry in California with three generations of family ownership.
